FillStub vs TradeZella

The strongest brand in the category, and an options page whose feature list never mentions options.

TradeZella is the best marketed product here by a wide margin, with real backtesting, an AI layer and the largest social proof. Its options landing page is headlined "The #1 Options Trading Journal" and its feature list covers notes, tags, replay and templates, with no mention of greeks, multi leg strategies, rolls or assignment. The only documented option lifecycle behaviour is a toggle that closes expired trades by inserting a synthetic zero.

What TradeZella does better

Backtesting over eleven years of tick data

Three modes including natural language backtesting. We have no backtester and are not building one.

The clearest information architecture and the strongest proof surface

Trustpilot 4.8 over a thousand reviews, a large community, a genuinely well produced site. We have two paying customers and no reviews.

Thorough per broker import guides

Numbered steps, exact menu paths, sample CSVs and animated GIFs for TradeStation and IBKR. Ours are text.

A trade replay

Nothing here replays anything.

What we do that they do not

An option lifecycle at all

The documented behaviour is an Auto Close Expired Option Trades toggle that writes a synthetic zero close, which is wrong for any index option that finishes in the money. No documentation was found for assignment, exercise, roll linking or index cash settlement.

Greeks attached to real trades

Their greeks live in a standalone pre trade profit calculator that is not connected to logged trades. Ours are computed from the fill you actually got.

Tax output

A keyword scan of their pricing page returns zero occurrences of tax.

A price under $35 a month

Their cheapest tier is $35 and has no free plan. Our free tier needs no account and no card.

Which one to pick

Choose TradeZella if you want backtesting, replay and coaching around a trading process, mostly on futures or equities. If your positions are options, check their options page against this one before paying $35 a month: what is described there is a general journal with an options headline.
