FillStub vs TickerScribe

The one rival that already gets the option lifecycle right, and gives it away.

TickerScribe is the closest thing this category has to a correct free journal. It chains rolls with their cumulative premium, handles assignment, exercise and expiration in one click each, lands assigned shares in a stock ledger at the right basis, and it is the only product in our whole audit that explicitly recognises cash settled index roots and suppresses the phantom share position every other importer invents. If lifecycle correctness is what you came for, it is already solved, for nothing.

What TickerScribe does better

It is free, with no tiers and no trade cap

Their FAQ commits that the current feature set stays free even if premium features arrive later. We charge $24 a month for the stored ledger.

Thirteen brokers auto detected, plus a column mapper

Interactive Brokers, thinkorswim, Schwab, Fidelity, Robinhood, TradeStation, tastytrade, Webull, Alpaca, Wealthsimple, Trade Republic, E*TRADE and M1, with a universal mapper behind them. We read five.

Greeks captured at open and at close

Delta, gamma, theta, vega and IV on both ends of a position, for every underlying. Ours are computed at the fill and only for index options, because only there can we get the index level at that minute.

A double entry ledger

Premiums, commissions and assignments each get their own entry and P&L falls out of balancing entries, which is a more auditable model than ours.

What we do that they do not

Tax output

Section 1256 against Form 8949, split by underlying, with the year end marks named where an export cannot supply them. A keyword scan of TickerScribe's homepage and options feature page for 1256, 8949, wash sale, TurboTax and tax returns zero hits.

An interval on every statistic

Clustered by trading session, and refused below five sessions. They report win rate as a number, like everyone else.

The book at the minute of your fill

For SPX, SPXW and XSP, from a public archive going back to April 2022. Nobody else has this because nobody else publishes one.

An MCP server

Six read only tools over your own ledger, so an assistant can read it. They have no API of any kind.

Which one to pick

If you want a correct free journal and do not file US taxes on this trading, take TickerScribe. It is better than us at the thing it does and it costs nothing. Come here when the tax return is the problem, when you want to know whether a win rate is real, or when you trade SPX and want to see the book you traded into.
